U.S. Air Travel Apps Q1 2024 Performance Recap

Air travel apps have been instrumental for many travelers, and the first quarter of 2024 has shown interesting user engagement trends in the United States. Sensor Tower provides us with comprehensive insights into how these apps have performed in terms of downloads and weekly active users.

Southwest Airlines saw downloads starting at 122K in the first week of January, climbing to a peak of 158K in early March, before descending to 127K by the end of March. Weekly active users fluctuated, starting at 828K, peaking at 876K in the second week of January, and then leveling out to 716K by the end of the quarter.

Fly Delta commenced the quarter with 139K downloads and experienced a rise to 179K in March, followed by a slight decrease to 158K. The app's weekly active users started strong at 978K, dipped to 787K towards the end of January, and then showed a recovery to 848K by the end of March.

The American Airlines app showed an initial download count of 154K, which exhibited an upward trend to reach 193K in early March, and then slightly decreased to 165K. Weekly active users began at 904K and peaked at 992K in the first week of March, before decreasing to 929K.

United Airlines had a steady start with downloads at 138K, which saw a gradual increase to 166K in March, and then a decrease to 145K. The weekly active users started at 662K, decreased to 538K by late January, and then increased to a high of 655K in mid-March before falling to 564K.

Lastly, Spirit Airlines started the quarter with 69K downloads, which saw a spike to 88K in early March, and then ended at 70K. Weekly active users for Spirit began at 181K and saw a high of 202K in March, then slightly decreased to 182K by the quarter's end.
